AFC Urgent Care Fairfield has a board-certified USCIS Designated Civil Surgeon on staff on specific days within the month that is able to perform required immigration exams in accordance with the Department of Homeland Security and the US Citizens and Immigration Services (formerly INS). Immigration medical exams are required for all individuals applying for citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a green card before approval of their application. Only USCIS Designated Civil Surgeons can perform these exams for them to be valid.
Most of the requirements for the immigration exam include:
- Chest X-Ray (if PPD is positive in 48-72 hours)
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Syphilis Test
Do I need all of these vaccines? Depending upon your age, your age, you may not need all vaccines. We highly recommend calling us prior to visiting our center so you know what vaccinations are required.
What do I need to bring when getting an immigration physical? Please bring a recent photo ID (including, but not limited to a passport, driver’s license, a state identification card), and any immunization records or proof of any blood work to show you have been vaccinated or have been exposed to viruses. If you need any blood work done, we can perform the necessary blood work in our center.
Do I need to make an appointment? Our center accepts walk-ins, but you should call ahead to make sure our USCIS Designated Civil Surgeon is on staff that day. Please plan accordingly, because after you come in and have received the PPD, you must come back within 48-72 hours to have it reviewed by one of the nurses. If you have to come back within those hours, you will have to receive another PPD.
Our center is open every day from 8am to 8pm.
Please note immigration physicals will have to be seen no later than 3 hours prior to closing. All other physicals (including Pre-Op, DOT, School/Work), will have to be seen no later than 2 hours prior to closing: Cut off time for immigration physicals will be 5:00 pm.
